Dreams
I ran across a couple funny/interesting items on dreams lately that seem to go well together.
1) A xkcd comic:

2) A random YouTube video:
Since the comic came out the day after the YouTube video was featured I wonder if it was a direct inspiration?

Jace's Christmas Eve
Jace's favorite Christmas Eve toy is a robot that shoots foam discs from its mouth.

Thanks Aunt Chris! Here's a video of the action:

Thirty
So, I turned 30 last weekend. I don't feel like I'm getting old though because I'm younger than most of my friends :)
A group of us went to Vegas and had fun. We went to Ruth's Chris Steak House and I had the best steak of all time. I really recommend going there if you like steak. All the sides were perfect too.

After a great dinner we went to a karaoke place at the Imperial Palace. It was a little hole in the wall but the crowd was into it and we had fun. I only lasted till 1 AM but others in the group made it till past 3 AM.

The next day everyone had to fly home but Samantha and I were there for another day. We went to the Mirage to have our favorite buffet. Below is a picture of us at the Beatles exhibit at the Mirage.

This is us visiting The Wynn. It's a very nice place.

I had to get a picture of this giant display showing a Windows error. I wonder if anybody inside ever figured it out?

Pre-WWII color photos of America

The Library of Congress has an enormous archive of color photos taken from between the Great Depression and World War II. Scenes from long ago are much more realistic when they are portrayed in full color. It is an enjoyable learning opportunity to look back in time like this.
Here is a collection from a different source.

RIP: James Kim

I'm really sad to hear that they just discovered James Kim's body. I was really hoping that he would make it since he managed to keep his family alive for 9 days. It's so sad to think that if he had just stayed with them a while longer he would have lived. There was no way to know if help would ever come though since it took so long for rescuers to find them. I can't imagine what it was like for him to keep struggling through the cold by himself. I hope he didn't suffer too much.
